DC School Reforms are working:

  • Higher test scores- both on the national tests and DC test (DC CAS)
  • Increasing enrollment
  • Closing black-white achievement gap
  • Greater options and opportunity

“We must continue to believe in the potential of all children in DC to achieve at the same levels we expect from students in the suburbs, and we must continue to embrace our shared responsibility as adults to make it happen.”
- DC Public Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee, September 16, 2009 Testimony

“I’ve talked a lot about your government’s responsibility for setting high standards, supporting teachers and principals, and turning around schools that aren’t working where students aren’t getting the opportunities they deserve.”
- President Obama’s back to school speech, September 8, 2009

Thumbs Up!

Petition in support of DC school reforms:

We support the teachers, parents, and city leaders whose focus remains on putting kids first in DC. They are doing hard jobs every day and making the difficult decisions with one goal in mind – to make Washington DC the highest performing urban school district in the nation. Their courageous efforts must continue. These efforts will make the lives our students better. Our children deserve it.

We, the undersigned, support the reform efforts underway to improve the DC public schools. School child
